Skill Types[]
Listed below are the 5 types of skills present in AQ and their properties, along with a few examples for each skill type.
Information[]
- Treated as a standard spell (i.e., spell slot spells)
- Normal attack weapon effects are not applied.
- Spell-type weapon effects are applied.
- Receives the spell-type damage boost (/2) from all standard sources.
- Elemental Compensation is applied to damage (unless stated otherwise).

- Spell-type attack that is treated as a normal attack.
- Weapon effects (both normal attack and spell-type) are not applied.
- When dealing Magic damage, receives the Melee normal attack damage boost from Booster Pets/Guests.
- When dealing Magic damage, receives the Magic normal attack damage boost (/0.75) from all sources (excluding inherent weapon effects and Booster Pets/Guests).
- Elemental Compensation is applied to damage.

- Elevates normal attacks to skill-level (*2 damage) as an active effect (Magic normal attacks receive an additional *4/3 damage multiplier).
- Normal attack weapon effects are applied.
- Weapon specials (including 100-proc attacks) can occur, but do not receive any effects of the skill.
- When dealing Magic damage, receives the Melee normal attack damage boost from Booster Pets/Guests.
- When dealing Magic damage, receives the Magic normal attack damage boost (/0.75) from all sources (excluding Booster Pets/Guests).
- When locked to a specific element, Elemental Compensation is applied to cost (unless otherwise stated).
- Get the Balance Engine penalty of /1.1.

- Damage multiplier also applies to weapon specials (including 100-proc attacks) and weapon skills, but not to spell-type attacks. (Note: Modern weapon skills receive a different boost to ensure that free power is not generated when combining two skill multipliers.)

"Better" can refer to raw damage, cost efficiency, the ability to apply status effects, or even a mix of 2 or all of the above.
