 Neko

Neko subrace are the best armors for FD builds most of the time. They add an additional no-drop armor to your inventory, making your active armor inventory 9 slots instead of 8.

Unfortunately, half of the abilities of the armor are locked to guardians only.

Aside from that, Neko armors have 2 elements at 40% resistances, making them a compression armor for most use cases, and having all of them will cover all 8 elements.

Sol Neko

Sol Neko is STRONGLY recommended for FD Beastmasters.

Notable abilities:

  • Sol Claw - SP skill that seeks between the 2 elements of the armor that you are using and gets its Damage from Cha and BTH from Cha and Luk
  • Nine Lives (Toggle)(Guardian Only) - Spend 35 sp per turn to get +50 Luk
  • FURocity (Toggle)(Guardian Only) - Take 1.2 damage to have your pets and guests attempt to make monsters bleed. The monster takes a +10 bonus to its save (Cha vs. End).
  • Animal Magnetism (Toggle) - Spends 35 sp per turn to get +50 Cha
  • Elenyantal Attunement (Toggle) - Take 20% more damage to have your pets and guests try to make the monster burn. Stacks very well with pets that already burn and other weapons or miscs that make monsters burn. Monsters use Cha vs. Dex for save
  • Purrfect Malice(Guardian Only) - Monsters take 25% extra burn and bleed damage.
  • Cataclysm - Spends 40 neko charges to make your pets and guests deal 100% extra damage for one turn.

No drop - Earth/Light

Advanced Sol Neko - Earth/Light (Same as no drop Neko)

Cougar Sol Neko - Ice/Energy

Lion Sol Neko - Fire/Water

Solid Gold Sol Neko - Wind/Darkness

Location: Haven -> Become a Neko!

Water

Llyr's Druid

This is one of the best options for water, though it favors FD mages over rangers. Comes with a spell and a skill. The spell is 2 Hits and deals Water damage, to compensate it gets *1.61065 damage as elemental compensation. The skill can only be accessed by equipping the set's Weapon, Shield and Misc items. It does 3 hits and also deals Water damage (and gets the *1.61065 EleComp as well) but follows your weapon-type (Melee/Magic/Ranged) and pays attempts to inflict a [Hits Connected], -177.1715*[Water Res] LUK, Unlucky status on your foe!

Earth

Geocastellum Robes

This is the best F2P option and arguably beats Scarred Crow (listed below) due to recent updates to the status system. Scarred Crow still beats Geocastellum in terms of upfront resist compression. Has a quickcast-skill that grants -16% damage reduction for 4 turns. Note that due to the recent status system update Geocastellum's skill now stacks with itself in both power and duration (starting at the 7th cast). Using this skill in combination with Essence Orb (and other SP sources) and Purple Rain can result in some insane damage reduction values. The most usable and directly useful number of stacks is 2 funnily enough, this reduces the armor's secondary resists (Fire/Water/Energy/Dark: 61%) to ~41.39% (61%*0.6786) effectively allowing the armor to compress 5 elements almost perfectly. See the table below for details and additional examples:

Casts Turns DR %
1 4 -16.07%
2 4 -32.14%
3 4 -48.21%
6 4 -96.43%
14 9 -100.0%

Location: Mage Shop -> Mastercraft Sets -> Geocastellum Set (Part 2)

Scarred Crow

A great FD earth armor, and the best option available when considering monster based statuses and base resistances (Wind: 39, Dark/Ice: 42). Has a built in Wind skill that applies a 4 turn, -25*[Wind Resistance] Blind to the monster.

Location: 7500 Z-Token package

Info-Subs: Link

Twilly Form

Another fantastic option, and although it's rare it's definitely worth using if you already have it. It comes with 2 skills that both heal your HP; one costs MP, and the other costs SP.

Location: None

Info-Subs: Link

Werebunny Form

FD Earth armor. Like other Grenwog items, this armor comes with a bonus if the player has eggs from the Grenwog event. As such, this armor should only be bought/used if the player has a house and the Grenwog portal painting.

Bonus Effect: If the player has at least 250 eggs, that much is spent and the player gains +50% damage to all weapon attacks and spell during that turn (standard /0.75 for magic weapons, /2 for spells). This effect can be extremely powerful for 100-proc rangers as there are very few armors that boost the damage of 100-proc weapons.

MC: Pays for skill compression. Standard spell-based skill that deals [Weapon Type] Earth damage. The skill gets *1.52046 elecomp.

Location: Grenwog (seasonally) or Grenwog Portal Painting

Energy

Location: Today's Event -> Frostval 2019: Gift Delivery

Info-Subs: [TBD]

Quester's Heavy Gunner

The strongest F2P FD Energy Skill in the game. It comes with two skills: the first is a Ranged Energy attack (no magic version), and the second is a force field, which when cast, causes the monster to damage your MP instead of your HP.

Utility

Frozen Dragonslayer
