Introduction
This list of items is comprised of what's generally considered meta. Items are ordered by our personal ranking, with the best option for each element listed first. (Outliers being compression items, that are ordered by element)
NOTE |
---|
While this section is titled "Beastmaster Pets", the pets in the "0-CHA Pets" section are good as well and are simply there because they can be used by 0 CHA builds just as well. |

Fire
Plush Nugget
The strongest Fire pet in the game in terms of damage, dealing either normal damage, or +100% at the cost of 158 SP per turn.
Location: Kickstarter Plushie
Info-Subs: Link
Flame Bot
The pet has a toggle between three modes: Normal damage, +20% damage for a small SP cost, and +50% damage for a slightly bigger SP cost.
This pet is the strongest damaging pet in the game tied with Aberrant and Water Bot, barring the premium Plush Nugget, making it only slightly inferior to Aberrant due to its SP cost instead of HP.
Location: Valencia -> Golden Giftboxes -> UltraRare Shop

Keyote
Keyote is currently available through The Void. This is a good option for those looking for paralysis. You can click on its staff to swap between two attacks: a strong 4-hit attack with a +5% damage MC, and a 2-hit attack which can paralyze the monster, though it only deals half the damage to compensate for the effect.
Location: Void Takeover: Keyote the Heartcrusher. See here.
Info-Subs: Link
Flareos
Flareos is the best option next to Keyote. It comes with 2 attacks: a strong 2-hit ranged fire attack with a +5 BTH lean, and an attack which does no damage, but has a very high chance of Controlling the monster. You can click on him to swap between the two attacks.
Location: 12000 Z-Token Package
Info-Subs: Link
Rose-in-Full-Bloom
The best option, bar none, for Beastrangers since it complements the Sol Neko armors so well. Like many other pets on here it has a toggle between two different attacks. The first is a simple pure damage attack with a +3 BTH lean with a +4.25% BTH (not lean) MC, nothing to write home about. The second hit however deals 50% damage, but can burn the monster if it connects - on top of that, the monster is also inflicted with Berserk, causing its BTH to be lowered by 20 for two rounds.
Location: Snugglefest -> Previous Quests -> Love Potion 729!

Festive Deatharrows Cat
One of the many Deatharrows Cat pets. Can toggle between a +5% damage mode and an EleVuln mode, which increases Fire damage by +31.43% if all hits connect.
Fire clone of the Deatharrows Cat pet listed in the Darkness section.
Location: Valencia --> Golden Gift Boxes --> Ultra Rare shop. May become available again in December 2024.
Info-Subs: Link
Underwyrmling
Has a toggle between damage mode with a +5% MC, or a 3-hit attack that damages the monster's SP, which can be very useful for certain encounters.
Location: Travel Map -> Sail East -> Mt. Thrall -> Hollow's Garage -> Underworld Saga -> Escape the Wicked King (Challenge Mode)
Info-Subs: Link
Floating Pie
A solid option, though outclassed by the likes of Flareos and Keyote for obvious reasons. It comes with 2 attacks and you can toggle between them by clicking on it. The first is a standard 2-hit attack that deals 5% more damage, and the second is a 4-hit attack that can paralyze the monster - however, the monster is also healed for half the damage dealt.
Location: Warlic's Shop -> Mastercraft Sets -> Dessert Set
Info-Subs: Link
Water
Aqua Bot
A clone of the Flame Bot listed above.
Location: Valencia -> Golden Giftboxes -> UltraRare Shop
Info-Subs: Link
FruitcakeZard
This pet is unfortunately permanently rare. However, for those who need paralysis, it's the best option for Water. It has two attacks: one which gains 5% more damage, and another which can paralyze the monster at the cost of 50% damage. By clicking on the pet, you can switch between the two.
Location: None
Info-Subs: Link
Cephalopod
Cephalopod is the best option below FruitcakeZard and Aqua Bot, offering a toggle between +5% Mastercraft, and a chance to inflict Blind on the opponent.
Location: Warlic Shop -> Combine Mermazon Kelp + Bad Juice + Magma Leaf -> Talk Like A Pirate Day -> Treasure Hunt (Click the map in Rhubarb's hand)
Info-Subs: Link
Baby Egg
One of 8 elemental variants, this pet has a toggle between two modes, both of which pay 50% of the pet's damage: paralysis mode and damage reduction mode. The damage reduction mode functions identically to the Grakma-Hide Shield, reducing the damage you take from each hit by a flat amount (14 at level 150). The paralysis mode attempts to inflict the status slightly more frequently than FruitcakeZard, and while both have synergy with the Umazen Aspis shield's +20 paralysis potence, the pet lacks a full damage mode, making it less versatile.
Location: Grenwog
Info-Subs: Link
RhubZard
A standard damage/status toggle pet, with status mode inflicting the Unlucky status, stealing LUK (67 at the top level) from the enemy and adding it to yours for the turn. This pet is notable for its synergy with its guest counterpart in the Beastmaster Guests section.
Location: Void Takeover: RhubZard. See here.
Info-Subs: Link
Abyssal Undead Hydra
Has a toggle between damage mode and Daze mode. Save is CHA/LUK vs END/LUK. It has nice synergy with the guest version of itself (see Guests page).
Location: Warlic's Magic Shop -> Quests -> Dragonlorn Keep -> Part 5
Info-Subs: Link
Wind
Psychedelic Dinosaur
While it's permanently rare, there is no better option if you already have it. It's a pet with a high chance to Control the monster.
Location: None
Info-Subs: Link
Pig Drake
A very solid pet for fully defensive beastmasters. It has 2 modes, one that increases your mrm every round and another that has a chance to choke the monster.
Location: Valencia -> Golden Giftboxes -> Rare Shop
Info-Subs: [TBD]
Fenrir
A nice pure damage option, though it's no longer available. It deals +10% damage on monsters with more than 0 STR.
Location: 2019 Frostval Donation contest

Baby Egg
Wind clone of the Baby Egg pet listed in the Water section.
Location: Grenwog
Info-Subs: Link
Fujin's Curse
If you don't have access to the Grenwog event yet, this is your next best option. Its attack consists of 3 equally powerful hits, and if they all connect, then it can lower the monster's blocking chances for wind damage for the turn.
Location: Warlic's Shop -> Mastercraft Sets -> Fujin Set!
Info-Subs: Link
Ice
Frosty Godfather
Standard paralysis pet. Can toggle between a pure damage mode and attempting to inflict a 1-turn Paralysis status at a 37*[MobIceRes]% rate (+0 save, CHA/LUK vs. CHA/LUK).
Location: Limited Time Shop (around Father's Day)
Info-Subs: Link
Frost Effigy
Pairing nicely with the top recommended Ice guest Nezujimbo, this pet toggles between dealing full damage, or attempts to inflict Freeze on the opponent. On top of this, Effigy also increases the chances of inflicting Freeze-like status effects (including its own).
Location: Warlic's Shop -> Mastercraft Sets -> Frostgale Set
Info-Subs: Link
Cometoid Jelly
One of the more unconventional healing pets released, this pet is effectively a clone of the Leech pets (a Z-Token package), but without all of the bugs, and way more versatility. This pet can toggle between 3 modes, in each mode the pet deals 20% of its base damage but then heals *4 that damage in either HP, MP, or SP, depending on which mode is active. Due to resource conversion rates, in MP mode the pet heals *6 of damage done as MP, and in SP mode the pet heals *4.5 damage done as SP.
Additionally, in order to normalize healing, the amount of healing received is divided my the monster's Ice Res as a decimal, i.e. if the pet would normally heal 260 HP/MP/SP vs. a monster with 130% Ice Res, it would instead heal 260/1.3 = 200 HP/MP/SP. Likewise, if the pet would normally heal 80 HP/MP/SP vs. a monster with 40% Ice Res, it would also instead heal 80/0.4 = 200 HP/MP/SP.
This normalized healing helps to prevent the abuse of using resists to heal more than intended. However, the pet's damage, and thus the pet's healing, can be boosted by all other standard methods.
Location: Guardian Giftboxes 2020 Rare
Frosty Godmother
Ice version of the Godmother pet. One of the more versatile pets in the game, can toggle between dealing Ice damage, healing HP, and healing MP.
Location: Limited-Time Shop (around Mother's Day)
Info-Subs: Link
Riftwalker

This pet is mainly useful on dodge builds, but does still have some synergy with the Shield of Agony's Blood outside of those builds.
Location: Valencia -> Golden Giftboxes -> Rare Shop Rare (May return next February during the GGB Extravaganza)

Earth
Glass Cannon
A pure-damage pet that seeks between Earth and Light. Additionally, deals *1.2 damage at the cost of you receiving roughly *1.057 damage, making it stand above the rest.
Location: 12000 Z-Token Package
Info-Subs: Link
Fu-Dog
Toggles between a one-hit attack that gives up 81.85% damage but has a high chance to Petrify the monster and a two-hit attack that has +4.25% BTH. Additionally, the pet increases the potency of freeze-like effects (freeze, petrify, spirit rend, hypersalinate) by 20, making it much harder for the monster to resist.
Location: Valencia -> Golden Giftboxes -> UltraRare Shop
Info-Subs: Link
WoolZard
This pet has 2 toggles: the first is between 2 modes, one pays 100% of pet damage and attempts to inflict Sleep, while the other pays 50% and attempts to inflict Elemental Vulnerability (EleVuln), making you deal up to 142.6% Earth damage the next round, depending on hits landed. The other toggle is between regular and "Zardimax" mode. Zardimax mode makes the pet cost a large amount of SP (196 at level 150) per turn, and either increases the BtH and chance the enemy stays asleep in sleep mode, or making the pet pay none of its damage, increasing its BtH and increasing the EleVuln to 152.6% if all hits connect. However, given SP generation per turn at level 150 is 98, it can be difficult to sustain the Zardimax mode.
Location: Void Takeover: WoolZard. See here.
